Gakuen Babysitters Episode 3 Review: Part 3

Ryuchi & Kamintani classmates: ‘Give us those natural heat packs.’ I died.

Takuma’s Kazuma’s father: Kosuke was so cute and sweet. The scene where he was sitting by himself being all depressed reminded me of Tamaki of Ouran Host Club when every time he was feeling sad he would grow mushrooms in a corner. In the fangirls scene with his sons being held up and calling him and his wife coming to get the girls out of his way and the whole family story, everything was just marvelous!

Themes & Trivia

To carry on from the previous episode with the characters names: Yagi (山羊) means goat and Nezu () means mouse.

Valentine’s Day in Japan: In Japan, Valentine’s Day is being celebrated in a unique way. I am sure that if you have been watching anime for a long time you will have noticed this already. There is a tradition in Japan that only women give chocolates to men during Valentine’s Day. There are two types of chocolate that are given on that day: ‘Giri-choco’ which is meant to be for friends, colleagues, bosses, and close male friends. ‘Giri’ means obligation so it has no romantic feelings involved. ‘Honmei-choco’ is given to a boyfriend, lover, or husband. Japanese women often prepare the Honmei-choco by themselves, as many of them think it is not true love if they just buy the readymade chocolate at shops.

I really enjoyed this episode. I love how this anime is all about family values and about how to raise your kids in a good way. It is a slice-of-life anime in a way because if you think about it, it portrays (in a subtle way of course) that a lot of couples are finding it hard to raise their kids when they are working full time and have careers ahead of them.

When Kosuke was standing by the bushes and Ryuchi thought ‘Omg a prowler!’ and then Kamitani threw his shoe in his face, I was sure that this poor guy was not there to assault or harm anyone, I am not sure about Yagi though… It will be hard for him to overcome the ‘perv’ suspicions from everyone because especially in Japan a nosebleed or hanaji (鼻血) is a euphemism for sexual arousal… Sexual aroused by baby cheeks? Lord, it sounds so wrong.

‘A Man’s Teeth are His Life’

Seriously Kosuke was so fun and lovely. Usaida used as reference the god damn commercial instead of the bad ass movie that he stared in? He must be watching a lot of TV, when he is not sleeping of course. Who is your favorite baby so far? I think Kirin is adorable! And I am really curious to see her dad as well, actually I am looking forward to seeing all the families of the babies in the next episodes!
