We know how hard it is for people to achieve badass goals when healthy and in prime condition, so we beyond respect anyone who can achieve badass goals with a disability.
Just because you have a disability, that doesn’t mean you aren’t capable of doing great things. Look at these characters and remember you’re only limited by what you believe!
If you don’t think Guts is a complete and utter wrecking machine of a man, then we can’t be friends anymore. Guts may be missing an arm, but his replacement allows him to use some sweet gadgets in combat. And don’t worry about the missing eye, his depth perception has not changed at all. Just pray you don’t get on his bad side.
There could be an entire list dedicated to blind swordsmen since there is a love for them in anime. Hyouma gets the nod for being Danjou Kouga’s second-in-command. The wise man can also detect how many enemies are approaching due to his heightened hearing, and his sword fighting skills are deadly.
3Juubei Jimushi (Basilisk)
You approach a man with no limbs. Should be an easy fight, right? How wrong you would be. Juubei knows his own weaknesses and is able to adjust to a more stealthy and covert way of fighting. Plus, he has a sword hidden in his throat that he can wield with his tongue.
4Kukaku Shiba (Bleach)
Kukaku is the head of the Shiba clan, is an expert at using Kidou, and was able to beat Ichigo and her brother Ganju at the same time with no weapons. She is one tough fighter. As a note, Kuukaku only wears the prosthetic arm in the anime.
5Jushiro Ukitake (Bleach)
Ukitake is one of the longest serving captains in Soul Society. He is an expert at wielding a sword and was even able to go toe-to-toe with Yamamoto (the strongest swordsman in Soul Society). Ukitake is able to achieve feats despite having an incurable lung affliction, which has left him bedridden at times.
6Jun Misugi (Captain Tsubasa)
One of the toughest things in the world is telling an athlete that they can’t achieve their goals. Jun has always loved soccer, but a heart disease forbids him from playing. Not that Jun would let that stop him, as he would become one of the best players in Japan before he decided to stop playing.
How is this for a big bang of an entrance; Kansuke was caught in an avalanche, which would cause him to lose his left eye and crippling his left leg. But that does not stop him from fighting off some goons almost single-handedly.
8Gildarts Clive (Fairy Tail)
Gildarts lost an arm, a leg, and even a few organs in a life threatening fight. That doesn’t stop him from being a SS-class mage, and one of the strongest members of the Fairy Tail Guild.
9Shu (Fist of the North Star)
When Kenshiro was a boy, he was taken to the Nanto dojo to test his strength. If Kenshiro lost to an opponent, he would die. Shu did defeat Kenshiro, but instead of executing him, Shu clawed out his own eyes. He still became a mentor to Kenshiro and a true warrior.
10Izumi Curtis (Fullmetal Alchemist)
One of the most fearsome characters in Fullmetal Alchemist is Izumi. Let’s see, she has incredible strength and martial arts skills which let her take on Sloth and a bear, and is a master alchemist who can skip the Transmutation cycle. Missing her uterus and parts of her intestine hasn’t slowed her down at all.
11Edward and Alphonse (Fullmetal Alchemist)
The Elric brothers are a combo deal. Edward lost his right arm and left leg after a botched Human Transmutation. Alphonse lost his entire body, and had his soul bound to a suit of armor. Their troubles wouldn’t get in their way as they search for the Philosopher’s Stone.
12Nicolas Brown (Gangsta.)
Deadly, perceptive, and surprisingly witty. Nicolas doesn’t let being deaf get in the way from kicking some serious ass. While he can speak, he’d rather be sassy through sign language and glares.
You’re told that a combat trainer will arrive to teach you some ass kicking skills, but you’re surprised to see that she is in a wheelchair. If you underestimate Ayase, she’ll easily start flipping you around like a ragdoll.
Sanageyama takes being a swordsman very seriously. So when Ryuko defeats him, he decides to beef up his uniform and intentionally blinds himself. Since Sanageyama thought he was relying too much on his eyes, he used the situation to develop a sixth sense.
15Red-Haired Shanks (One Piece)
He’s one of the four most feared pirates in the world, and losing his dominant arm hasn’t slowed him down one bit. If you aren’t Luffy, you better not make Shanks mad, or you will regret it.
16Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
Zoro, Zoro, Zoro. Your lack of direction is legendary, but you make up for it with your sword skills. You would think losing an eye would affect his depth perception, but Zoro is still as skilled as ever.
17Shishio Makoto (Rurouni Kenshin)
A failed assassination attempt through burning destroyed Shishio’s sweat glands. Since he can’t regulate his body temperature, he must defeat an opponent in less than 15 minutes, or else his body will start to overheat. Good thing Shishio is strong as hell.
18Hotaru Tomoe (Sailor Moon)
Hotaru is a sickly girl who suffers from seizures. She can’t play like normal kids, but things change when she awakens as Sailor Saturn. The once sickly girl becomes one of the most powerful Sailor Soldiers in the series and her unyielding spirit she gained through her struggles becomes one of her greatest assets.
Vulcan is blind, hard of hearing, and is unable to walk. She still is a powerful goddess with a strong sense of justice who always finds a workaround, like flying instead of walking.
Samurai Champloo is filled with awesome characters and powerful warriors. However, Sara is one of the few who could take on Jin and Mugen in a fight, despite being blind.
21Togo Mimori (Yuki Yuna is a Hero)
Togo was in an accident that left her paralyzed. Unfortunately, Togo feels useless to her friends and feels she is holding them back. However, as a Hero, Togo is very skilled with guns and is able to save her friends multiple times.
