Yesterday the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo announced that on March 21st they will be screening a new short film by director Hayao Miyazaki. ‘Boro the Caterpillar’ is his first anime project since 2013’s ‘The Wind Rises.’
The film will be just 14 minutes 20 seconds long and was written and directed by Miyazaki. Originally the film was planned to debut at the museum in 2017 however it was delayed. A full length Boro feature is also planned for 2019, to be released in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Miyazaki is still also working on a feature length movie, ‘How Do You Live?’ which is speculated to be completed in the next five years.
