Last year, Pokemon GO was released in the US in July and took the country by storm! You couldn’t go anywhere without seeing people trying to find and catch our favorite virtual monsters on cell phones. Originally, we only had the Pokemon from the first 150 to catch and battle from the Kanto region. Next, we were slowly treated to the chance to find some Pokemon from the one hundred new Pokemon that were introduced in the Johto region updates.
Now, Pokemon GO isn’t nearly so explosively popular as it was back in the summer of 2016, but there are still plenty of Pokemon fans around the country who enjoy wandering around outside to catch Pokemon on their cell phones. Niantic has announced that, within the next few weeks, Pokemon from the Hoenn region starting with, among others, our free favorite starters: Torchic, Mudkip, and Treecko!
We’ll also be treated to the addition of in game weather patterns that will mirror weather in the real world. Is it raining in the real world? Yes? Well, now it’s raining in Pokemon GO. Is it sunny and warm? Well, look at the bright and sunny weather on your phone. And weather in Pokemon GO is going to have similar effects as it does in the cartridge games we all know and love. Find water Pokemon easier when it rains, and fire moves will work better under the hot, hot sun.
